Keeping Your Dog Fit and Healthy
Man’s best friend, pet, four-legged member of the family all describe our dogs. As pet owners, we love and take care of them and want to keep them in the best health ever so that they can enjoy many, long, vibrant years with us and us with them.
Having a dog for a pet requires much more than feeding them and taking them for an occasional walk. It is much more complex with a dog for a pet or any pet for that matter because they cannot verbally express to you when they are in need of something. You must be diligent and knowledgeable about your dog especially in terms of keeping them fit and healthy. Here is some pet care advice that will provide you with some important information that will get you started on the road to keeping your pet fit and healthy.
Exercise for your dog is an integral component of keeping him or her healthy. Just like humans, it is a critical part to health. If you live in an apartment or if you have an erratic schedule this may seem difficult, but you must make time at least thirty minutes a day to take your dog for a walk and/or on the weekends a dog-friendly park where he or she can freely run around.
Try to limit the amount of table foods you give your dog. You may think you are spoiling the dog some but you may actually be doing more harm than good especially if the foods are loaded with calories and fats. Stick to nutritional foods formulated for you specific dog breed.
Just like humans, dogs require at least a bi-annual check-up to make sure that everything is running smoothly and there are no issues. Some experts recommend that you take the dog to the vet at least 3-4 times a year because as mentioned earlier, dogs cannot communicate when something is wrong, so visiting the vet regularly can make sure you catch a problem before it becomes a lot worse.
